Every country has its wonderful women who are truly worthy of admiration. We at Bright Side adore beautiful and intelligent ladies, whose easy step and elegant dress are no more than a mask underneath which are hidden their sharp wits, strong ambition, and exceptional willpower.
One such woman is Sheikha Mozah (Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned), wife of the former Emir of the State of Qatar. Her name is known all over the world, and rightfully so.
She is considered to be the power behind the throne of Qatar. For one thing, the current Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani — Sheikha Mozah’s child — is not the eldest son in the family, and therefore was never the heir to the throne, but still he inherited it, and is now the ruler of the country and the youngest monarch in the world.
Sheikha is said to have brought Qatar to its current state of affairs, with modernization and an improvement in diplomatic relations with the West underway. She even has her own Instagram page, where she regularly posts various pictures, all the while being admired by women of fashion from the world over for her impeccable taste and style.
Sheikha Mozah is has been considered the first lady of Qatar and one of the most powerful women of the Middle East for many years now, recognized even by Forbes magazine. Her Highness is also a Special Envoy for UNESCO, making basic and higher education available for more people around the world.
This shrewd and brilliantly educated lady has achieved a unique position in and outside Qatar. Sheikha Mozah received a BA in Sociology from Qatar University and has been an intern at a number of US universities. She is therefore a high-profile specialist in both internal and external politics of her country, and has a strong influence on it.
Unlike many typical royal wives in the Arabic world, Sheikha Mozah almost always accompanies her husband during his official visits to other countries. Being the Vice-President of the Supreme Educational Council, she has brought huge investments to Qatar Science and Technology Park, which aspires to be a second Silicon Valley.
Sheikha Mozah is a driving force behind the development of education and science in her country. She’s also the chairperson and founder of the Arab Democracy Foundation that strives to establish a free press and the basics of civil society in the countries of the Middle East. It was she who founded a university campus on the capital’s outskirts, where students can learn from leading American professors. Her Highness is one of the primary supporters of Qatar on the international stage. Just think of it: the FIFA World Cup 2022 is going to take place in Qatar, in part thanks to her!
Sheikha Mozah is actively involved in tackling the various problems that affect children, in particular questions of basic education in Qatar. Not only is she the President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, but it was also her initiative that gave life to the Education City foundation, whose activities are aimed at expanding children’s education, and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel — the TV channel for kids aged 7-12.
Her Highness is well-known and well-loved by residents of her own country and all over the globe. She has become an iconic figure in the world of fashion, showing elegance whatever the time or her age. When you think of her seven children, you can’t but wonder — in view of her undying beauty, graceful features, and perfect style — who they’ll turn out to be. She is probably one of the most influential women in the world.
Sheikha Mozah’s style is a recognized example of true taste. On numerous occasions she has shown that you can create a bright and distinct image out of even the most conservative fashion tastes. She never goes against the traditions and customs of her country, and yet she naturally weaves modern tendencies into the way she looks. By the way, it’s thanks to her that turbans come back into trend from time to time.
All in all, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah is a unique example of a business lady of the contemporary East. A wife and a mother, a public official and a politician... she’s truly a jack of all trades, and master of all. Today she’s a Special Envoy for UNESCO; tomorrow she’ll be giving a speech at the Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Rio de Janeiro — and not just to talk about her title of fashion queen of the Arab world. Sheikha Mozah bears with elegance and grace the mantle of a true lady — a beautiful, strong, and admirable one.
