Living in a city can be tough. It becomes a dog-eat-dog world out there, and surviving the streets can be harsh. While it can be difficult out there, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t nice people that are trying to help their community be the best it can be.
When temperatures dropped into the low 30’s, everyone in Dallas was struggling to deal with the cold- particularly those withing the homeless community. One taco stop (only known as The Taco Stop, saw what the homeless were dealing with and decided they needed to do something to help them out.
Owner Emilia Flores decided to bring back her coat rack for its second year, where people can donate or take a coat.
“This is a way of people not being embarrassed about asking,” Flores explains about her system. “They just come and pick what they need and leave.”
Despite setbacks like her coat rack being stolen four times last year, Flores is undeterred from helping those in need.
Little things like this can help a tremendous amount of people. It’s easy to forget in the hustle and bustle of life to take a look around and help those around us but this little food stop is quickly teaching us that even in the little things, anything can help!
