12 Behind The Scenes Facts About '10 Things I Hate About You'

10 Things I Hate About You was one of the best teen rom coms to come from the '90s. The cast was amazing! Heath Ledger was charming, young Joseph Gordon-Levitt was adorable and Julia Stiles was the perfect leading lady. And of course, the movie itself was so cute! The movie ended up being so successful that it was turned into a TV show too... but it just couldn't live up to the movie. So let's just take some time to remember the movie! Here are some facts that we definitely don't hate about 10 Things I Hate About You.

SHARE if you used to have the biggest crush on Heath Ledger in this movie!

1. According to the cast, Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles started dating during filming! They broke up a year after.

Awww Kat and Patrick dated in real life!

2. The emotional scene where Kat reads the "10 Things" poem was the first and only take! Julia improvised the tears at the end of the poem.

That scene gets to me every single time!

3. Did you notice that the poem actually lists 14 things and not 10 things that she hates about Patrick?!

She wrote the poem so shouldn't she know how to title it properly?!

4. In the movie, Cameron learns French just so he can tutor Bianca. In real life, Joseph Gordon-Levitt can speak French fluently!

Ok that makes him 300% hotter.

5. It was actually Julia's idea for Heath's character to sing Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" to her character on the soccer field.

Thanks, Julia! We have you to thank for that iconic scene we keep rewatching over and over again.

6. Heath actually improvised the scene where Patrick starts playing with fire and lights his cigarette with it.

7. Julia originally auditioned for the role of Bianca and Larisa Oleynik initially auditioned to play Kat.

Whoa. That would have been so weird if they played each other's roles!

8. One of the books from the library scene with Kat and Patrick is called 10 Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives.

9. The original script for the movie was supposed to be a lot darker. In the original, Kat's best friend would constantly refer to her suicide attempts to join William Shakespeare.

Uh... why???

10. After Kat almost hits Michael, he refers to her as "the shrew." It's a reference to The Taming of the Shrew, the Shakespeare play which the movie is based on!

11. Remember that scene where Kat is drunk and dancing on the table at the party? That scene actually got her cast in Save the Last Dance!

12. In one scene, Patrick pays off a student in the hallway. That student is actually the leader of the marching band that helps out Patrick when he's serenading Kat!

Now I just want to rewatch the movie! COMMENT and tell us your favorite scene from the rom com!
